E01 Smartphone Network Settings

Exercise Objective

Develop awareness of, and capability to use settings to configure and access network services. Enabling and disabling of Cellular Data Services, as well as joining of Wi-Fi networks, secured and non-secured.

Introduce participants to considerations relating to Wi-Fi Networks when Using a Smartphone or Mobile Device.

Participant Challenge/s

Cellular Data Services:

  • Locate settings appropriate for network service management
  • Use Airplane mode to control overall network service access
  • Enable / Disable Cellular Data to manage service costs
  • Monitor Usage of Cellular Data at Application Level

Wi-Fi Services

  • Recognise Secure and Insecure Wi-Fi Networks
  • Know how to Enable and Disable the Use of Wi-Fi Networks
  • Connect to a Secure Network Using a Password provided by the Hot-Spot Provider
  • Forget a Network and Prevent Automatically Reconnecting in the Future.

Assessment

Participant demonstrate ability to enable / disable services on demand and show impact of settings by interpreting status indicators on Smartphone screen.
