In this session, viewers are presented with different potential uses of the Internet, as well as an introduction to concepts relating to domains, URLs, name servers and general directory services.
By way of a short explanation:
- The Internet is simply an interconnected series of networks, providing the infrastructure for consumers of services and service providers to connect to and to provide data transport services
- The Web is a method of presenting and delivering services across the Internet
Objectives
Viewers will understand:
- Consumer use of the Internet to access application service provider
- Consumer to Consumer communication and interaction over the Internet
- Machine to Machine communication. Device configuration and remote control of devices over the Internet
- How services and systems can be found on the Internet, how domain naming and addressing works.
